Q3 Review – Jul Aug Sep

July

LEAN Times Issue 65 in July informed us about Big Wins in Jones Engineering and also Continuous Small Improvements where “It’s the little things that make a difference.”

Michael Korda tells us, “Success has always been easy to measure. It is the distance between one’s origins and one’s final achievement.”

The question was also raised, “What type of leader are you?”

The team on Janssen told us you don’t always have to spend big for spare parts when a simpler less expensive solution may be out there if you look.

August

2018 gave us one of the best summers in memory and we weren’t the only ones to enjoy it. A glucose leak in the Mondelez-Cadbury site in Dublin attracted 1000s of honey bees to an impromptu party. Richard Conway and Richard Timmons donned bee-keeping suits to break up the party.

Armorgard showed us how to secure our belongings and the Jones Engineering sponsored Dublin Liffey Swim was held with over 500 swimmers taking part.

September

It can be often a great feeling to stumble across individual initiative. This happened in September when the Plant Division visited Galway and met with JJ Cahill. JJ showed us his adaptation of 5S in a van. The custom built shelving and storage in his van utilised the minimum of space and was able to carry all his kit leaving plenty of room to carry equipment. A place for everything and everything in it’s place at it’s best.

The importance of having the right tool for the job, avoiding printer waste and how a defect presents an opportunity to learn were all featured in this issue.
