In LEAN Times 49 from March 2017 we highlighted the amount of paper that we use for printing and copying within JEG.
We have recently been made aware of an additional related problem that is causing more waste and also frustration. Most staff within JEG use a printer that is installed on the internal network. However this makes it very easy to click on the wrong printer or to forget to change the selection from the previous printer that was used.
If your business card ever ended up on the plotter…you’d understand the problem.
This may not sound like a large problem, but next time you walk past a plotter and notice an A0 sized copy of an e-mail or invoice lying there, you’ll know what has happened. This is more concerning than just wasting plotter paper as it may involve printing confidential material to the wrong printer…..the printer may not even be in the same office building.
